We love Dexters because they just make sense for a smaller farm. They don’t take up a ton of space, they’re efficient grazers, and their smaller size makes them easier for our family to handle. They’re also just fun cattle to have around — hardy, curious, and full of personality.
Our goal is to raise cattle that are not only small, but are also healthy, functional, and well suited for life on a small farm or homestead. We pay attention to temperament, structure, size, and overall quality when deciding what stays in our herd.
Why Dexters?
Small & manageable
Dexters are a great fit for smaller farms and homesteads. Their smaller size means they require less space and are generally easier to handle than full-sized cattle.
Efficient grazers
Their smaller frame and efficient use of pasture make them a practical choice for farms where maximizing available grass matters.
Great beef
Dexters produce high-quality beef in a more manageable package, making them especially appealing for families raising beef for their own freezer.
Big personalities
This might be our favorite part. They may be small, but they definitely don't act like it. Every cow seems to have her own personality, and that's part of what makes raising them so much fun.
We don't just want small cattle. We want good cattle that happen to be small.
