Dexters

We focus on breeding small stature (<40") Dexter cattle. 

Why dexters?

First, their small size - typically 36-44 inches small and weighing 600-1000 lbs - means they're easier to manage and require less space. If you've got a small farm or homestead, say a few acres, a Dexter can thrive where a full-sized cow might overgraze. They eat less too, often needing only about half the feed of a standard beef cow, which cuts costs on hay, grain, and pasture upkeep. 

Dexters are dual-purpose, giving you flexibility. If you want milk, a Dexter can produce 1-2 gallons of high butterfat milk. For beef, they offer tender, flavorful meat and their smaller carcass size (yielding 200-300 lbs) is practical for personal use without overwhelming freezer space.

Eddie

Eddie is a lively, curious, and docile bull calf born in May 2025. He is well-proportioned, with a deep chest, straight back, strong legs and is ideal for grazing or small-scale farming. Eddie is the brother of Homer who was on the taller side, and comes from our tallest black dexter mother, but is dun colored like his dad (Bibbull). Homer

Feeder steer born in May 2024 ready for his new home. The tallest steer born in 2024. He's 37" at shoulder height. Perfect to feed a family of 5. Feed him out on small acreage (<5 ac) with minimal feed through the winter. Butcher him at 18 - 24 months to get enough meat equivalent to half an angus steer (and half the price). SOLD April 2025.

Mini Me

Mini me is a 1 year old dexter bull calf, standing 36" tall. He's compact, sturdy, and boasts a rich, dark coat and calm demeanor. He will make an excellent addition to any small farm or homestead. Raised on pasture, he's healthy, well proportioned, and ready for breeding or as a future herd sire. SOLD June 2025.
